A political tool

Blocked web site
A growing use for the blogsphere the voices against oppression.

An interesting articleDiscussing the attempts to prevent certain blogs in Saudi Arabia.

For me this is an exciting turn of events. It is the READ / WRITE web at its best.

This is interesting. I read a year ago an article where phones with cameras were becoming a bit hit between groups of the opposite sex, and how the government was trying to put a stop to it.
Because it is taboo for a young woman and young man to meet alone or let alone date, they have found it possible to have these cyber dates where the women actually show their faces and send to the potential boyfriend. These new tecnologies are really starting to create a new arsenal of tools for people who may seem to us as too oppressed. I think the more they are able to rebel in these ways, the stronger they will become as a people and realize that they probably are more powerful than they give themselves credit.

Mark,
Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I was not aware that this was happening, and I agree with you that this showcases the potential "power to the people" phenomenon of the Web 2.0.
